After it was confirmed that Deleware District Attorney was investigating Hunter Biden, there quickly came calls for a DOJ Special Counsel to be appointed to continue the investigation. The reasoning being that a Special Counsel would not be interfered with, if a Joe Biden Administration were to take office.
In the latest to show support for this idea, Kelly Loeffler (R-GA) announced this week that she feels, “The Department of Justice MUST do the right thing. Appoint a special counsel on Hunter Biden NOW!”
It has been reported that Hunter Biden (son of Joe Biden) has conducted business with foreign countries, including China, Ukraine and possibly Russia. Before leaving office, former Attorney General William Barr signaled that he would not be appointing a Special Counsel to investigate Hunter.
To the extent that there’s an investigation, I think that it’s being handled responsibly and professionally currently within the department, and to this point I have not seen a reason to appoint a special counsel and I have no plan to do so before I leave” outgoing Attorney General William Barr said.
Loeffler is one of two Senators facing a runoff election in the State of Georgia.
