For the past year, Special Counsel John Durham has been investigating the origins of the FBI’s probe into President Trump’s 2016 campaign. This probe was used to spy on the President and members of his team and eventually was used to promote the since disproven Russia hoax.
The original probe into the Trump campaign was investigated by Special Counsel Robert Mueller and despite numerous statements by colleagues claiming otherwise, President Trump was eventually exonerated by the report’s release finding ‘no collusion with Russia.’ However, that did not stop Democrats from pursuing a bogus impeachment trial.
Following the end of the trial, Attorney General Barr designated John Durham as special counsel to investigate the original probe into the Trump campaign. Since Durham began his investigation, information has been scarce about what he is, or is not, finding.
Since it began, Durham’s probe has indicted one FBI official, Kevin Clinesmith, for altering an email that was used to justify the wiretapping of President Trump’s former campaign aide. However, Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe has said “I think there will be more indictments,” he continued with “Based on the intelligence I have access to, I certainly believe there should be.”
AG Barr opened up about the ongoing investigation on Monday saying “They’re making good progress now and I expect they will be able to finish their work.” Special Counsel Durham is tasked with producing a ‘confidential report’ for the Attorney General.
