About two dozen Republican legislators in Arizona are calling for Arizona to decertify election results. Republican House Majority Leader, Warren Petersen, said: “The election should not have been certified with the number of irregularities and allegations of fraud.” Mr. Petersen went on to specify that allegations of fraud involving Dominion voting systems are “especially troubling.”

The call for decertification is an unusual measure and there seems to be little clarity as to how a decertification of electoral votes would work. Rusty Bowers, Arizona House Speaker, said the legislature is unable to overturn certified results adding, “Nothing in the U.S. Constitution or the decisions of the U.S. Supreme Court even suggests that the Arizona Legislature could retroactively appoint different electors who would cast their ballots for 2 different candidates.”

This call to decertify follows severe allegations of fraud in the state. Governor Doug Ducey has been outspoken in his opinion that there were was no fraud.
