In a statement made yesterday, Mike Pence made it clear that he welcomes lawmakers to object to Electoral College votes on January 6th. In a statement released by Vice President Pence’s Chief of Staff, Marc Short said, “Vice President Pence shares the concerns of millions of Americans about voter fraud and irregularities in the last election.”
This comes after 11 Senators announced plans to object to Electoral College votes from key swing states that seem to have been plagued with reports of alleged voting irregularities.
The group of 11 Senators is being led by Senator Ted Cruz who in a statement said the 2020 election, “featured unprecedented allegations of voter fraud, violations, and lax enforcement of election law, and other voting irregularities.”
January 6th is the appointed date in which a joint session of Congress is set to approve the votes cast by the Electoral College for the President of the United States. It is expected for both US House Representatives and US Senators to object to the votes. This is expected to trigger automatic 2-hour debates for each state whose electors are challenged.
