While the first Coronavirus vaccine shipment is moving through the country, many businesses, mainly in liberal cities, are still not sure when they will be able to fully reopen. Most businesses around the country are under some sort of restriction, but a few have been subject to outright tyrannical state governments threatening jail time to business owners that rely on their shops to survive.
Yet despite the irrational government overreach in these areas, many of them continue to have the worst COVID-19 numbers in the country. Take California and New York as an example, these two areas have some of the highest new cases and total death counts. They both also had some of the most strict and overreaching mandates put on their residents and business owners.
These restrictions did nothing but hurt businesses and the previously thriving economy. New data released from Yelp showed that 60% of businesses that were shut down because of the pandemic are now permanently closed. It also showed that the businesses that were most affected by the pandemic were restaurants that were not suited for take-out. With all these businesses closing down, it is hard to say what will be left when this is all over.
