Last night, thousands of people attended a Trump rally, held at Valdosta Regional Airport, to show support for two incumbent Senators, as they enter the final stages of the runoff elections. “We’re here to ensure that David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler win the most important congressional runoff in congressional history, I really believe that,” Trump said.

The unprecedented runoff elections in Georgia were triggered when both seats were too close to call during the 2020 election. With the senate-makeup evenly split, the party that retains these two seats will determine which party holds power in the upper house. For that reason, these races have garnered widespread attention, particularly in light of allegations of fraud in Georgia.
“The voters of Georgia will determine which party runs every committee, writes every piece of legislation, control every single taxpayer dollar. Very simply, you will decide whether your children grow up in a socialist country or whether they will grow up in a free country,” – Donald Trump
Trump went on to highlight what he sees as widespread fraud in Georgia, “For mail-in ballots—drastically less than the historic norm—in Georgia, 0.5 percent of the mail-in ballots were rejected in 2020 compared to 5.77 percent [in 2016].” The practice of comparing the rate of rejection for mail-in ballots is a statistical tool used to indicate if potential fraud is occurring. Although, it is not absolute proof. Logic would stand to say, all things being equal, the historical rate of rejection should be maintained around the same percentage point, regardless of the volume of ballots coming in. The fact that there is such a disparity between the rate of rejection in 2020 and 2016 is enough to raise questions, particularly for the Trump campaign.
The President was sure to remind us of additional accomplishments made during the 2020 election. Most notably, is the fact that Republicans did not lose a single house seat. “Think of it … normally, you lose 2, 3, 5, and you replay. We lost nobody. I worked hard in the House with Kevin McCarthy, not losing a single legislative chamber and making big gains at the state level and holding onto the Senate … we better hold onto the Senate.”
Trump also gave a brief outline of what he sees as the eventual plan for overturning the 2020 election results, “We’ll be going up to the Supreme Court very shortly, and we really—if we have courage and wisdom—I think you know what the answer is going to be because you can’t let people get away with what they got away with.” The theme of people having “courage” was a consistent theme throughout his speech last night.
The rally held last night had a trademark flare that we’ve all come to know as distinctly Trump. While there was much time spent hearing about his efforts to rid our country of alleged fraud, he was sure to point out the main purpose of the evening’s events; making sure voters get out and vote for Loeffler and Perdue. “The voters of Georgia will determine which party runs every committee, writes every piece of legislation, control every single taxpayer dollar.
