A year ago, it would have sounded like a page taken out of modern YA dystopian novels. But lately, it seems like we are living it.
UK’s Daily Mail has reported the UK government, with the help of behavioral psychology experts, may soon be bestowing “freedom passes” on people who test negative for COVID. The best part, this pass will be given if people test twice a week!
The particulars of these new rules are being worked out in the kingdom’s bureaucratic halls. But, from what is begin reported, we think citizens will go in for regular testing. And if they test negative, citizens will be given a letter and a card they can show others as they live their lives.
The freedoms that this card (which will probably be on a person’s phone as well) will bring are extravagant privileges like not wearing a mask and visiting family. A source described a scenario like this, “‘They will allow someone to wander down the streets, and if someone else asks why they are not wearing a mask, they can show the card, letter or an App.”
Central to these changes are recommendations that have been provided by “behavior experts”. These “experts” are entrenched members of the intellectual class, originating from within the UK government. These elitists are given the responsibility to know how to control large groups of people in an effort to support governmental goals.
Originally part of the UK government, “The Behavioral Insights Team” is an “independent” UK organization whose goal is to, “generate and apply behavioural insights to inform policy, improve public services and deliver results for citizens and society.“
Other concepts for the freedom pass idea involve once-a-month testing, including wristbands and government-run testing sites paying for people’s travel expenses.
